Description | Chetwynd, "Baseball in Europe," p. 40, says that American servicemen (air force service mechanics being trained at the Fiat factory in Turin) played baseball at Valentino Park in Turin on "the Italian National Holiday." Chetwynd cites the Washington Post, Dec. 2, 1918. By 1922 Italian-American expatriates had brought the game to the natives in Turin. See Chetwynd, op cit. |
