Description

The Cleveland Plain Dealer, Dec. 18, 1904, article titled "All the World Plays Baseball", gives details of the "South African Baseball association", quoting the Transvaal Leader's article on the league's hitting leaders. A player on the "Wanderers" is the Lajoie of the league.

The Bellingham (WA) Herald, April 25, 1908, article titled "Baseball Booms in Africa," relates a letter from one L. A. Servitius of Johannesburg, South Africa, to an American, Joe Gordon, relating the South African Baseball league of 4 teams, the Johannesburg, the Wanders, the Internationals, and the Germantowns. They play on the Wanderers Athletic grounds. The first two are the best, and are playing for the "H. A. Pitt cup" championship.
