Regarding the latter, I’m wondering if we could make a book (or Web site) out of this, i.e., collect together all known Greater NYC area game accounts (in 1856 and earlier years) prior to the implementation of the 9-inning rule and suitably annotate them, plus add biographical accounts where feasible and identify the locations of the playing fields. I think it could be a very useful reference volume containing material that’s often hard to obtain but important for understanding the evolution of the New York game.
