This ended the duties of the day. I participated in a huge game of ball in the afternoon that proved disastrous to my powers of locomotion as it so lamed me that I can hardly stand on my pegs. Weather fine.” No other references to ballplaying are found.</p></br><p>“Diary of Captain Sewell Gray 1862 to 1863,” page 12. The 6<sup>th</sup> Maine was at Falmouth VA at this time.
