- 1861.25 + (<p>“In October 1861 a ‘bold soldier … <p>“In October 1861 a ‘bold soldier boy’ sent the <em>Clipper</em> an account of a baseball game played by prominent Brooklyn club members on the parade ground of the ‘Mozart Regiment, now in Secessia.’” The Mozart Regiment was the 40<sup>th</sup> NY volunteers, and originally comprised men [mostly] from the NYC area.
