| Description | Yale (junior class) 47 “62” (sophomore class) 25 (Wilkes’ Spirit of the Times: “The honor of introducing this manly game into the number of college sports at Yale, belongs to the Junior Class. At the beginning of the present term, a Club numbering twenty-five members was organized in this class under the name of the Yale Base Ball Club. Soon after, this example was followed in the organization of the “62” Base Ball Club, by the Sophomore Class. A challenge sent by the first nine of the latter Club to the first nine of the former was accepted. |
