Description

The Aurora Beacon, June 13, 1867, reports on a match on June 8th: "Base Ball Match. The match between the Aurora and Seminary Base Ball Clubs took place on Saturday last, as previously announced." The Clark Seminary of Aurora won 45 to 39. The Aurora team uniform was black pants with white shirts. A box score is given.

The location of the game isn't given, but it probably was either the Seminary grounds (near the Fox River) or the Aurora Fairgrounds on the eastern edge of the city, around the intersection of modern New York and Farnsworth Roads.

Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know

Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
