Location Jamestown, ND, United States
Description

The Jamestown Alert, May 18, 1880 reports on a coming meeting to form a town bbc. Same April 20, 1880 and June 15, 1880 denounces young people playing baseball in town on Sunday. Same July 1, 1881 announces a base ball game to be played on July 4th. Same June 17, 1881 reports that the RSTs are going to play the Swamp Angels--presumably these are city teams.

Bohn, "The Growth of Baseball in North Dakota," p. 30 says baseball was played here in 1879. This is probably based on a report of base ball throwing and catching in the Jamestown Alert, April 24, 1879.

Jamestown (near Fort Seward) was founded in 1872 and incorporated in 1883. It had 393 residents in 1880.
