Description

The Milwaukee Daily Sentinel, Sept. 2, 1867, cites the Lafayette County Union as reporting that Darlington recently lost a base ball game to Mineral Point, 40-34.

Per Hibbard, "Platteville," p. 45, on June 8, 1867 the Normal School team lost to the Darlington BBC 16-15 at Strawberry Diggings in Lafayette County.

Looking Backwards article gives the score of every game this club played in 1867. They defeated Platteville 16-15, Shullsburg 56-38, 42-36, 57-32, Mineral Point 45-35, 60-30, 48-27, 40-34, 38-30. They lost to the Phoenix of Belvidere and the Riverside of Dixon (at Rockford).

Darlington is the county seat of Lafayette County. It had 1,372 residents in 1880.
