Description	The [Deer Lodge] New North-West, May 12, 1871, has a grab bag report titled "The Territory" which appears to be excerpts from other Montana newspapers. The "Pioneer" reports on Missoula affairs and states "A Base Ball Club will be organized this summer." The Missoula newspaer in 1871 was titled the "Pioneer." Missoula had been founded around 1867. The Helena Independent, July 12, 1882, mentions "a match game of base ball between the Missoula club and the Fort Missoula club..."
