Text | Some new improvements are being made at Sportsman's Park this month. The grand stand and the fences are being repaired, and additional accommodations constructed for the ladies. The property is still in dispute, and a final adjudication of the case is not expected for several months. Von der Ahe has made a big offer for the ground, but owing to the conflicting interests it is doubtful if a sale can be negotiated. The ground, at a low estimate, is worth $30,000, just double what its value was six years ago. Von der Ahe is anxious to purchase it, and says if he gets possession he will make it the finest base ball park in the country. |
