Text | [Boston vs. Baltimore 9/10/1872] The night before the rain had fallen in torrents, and as though exhausted, but not satisfied with its previous efforts, it continued to fall yesterday morning in a mizzling, drizzling sort of fashion, which took the starch out of shirt collars and very sensibly wilted their owner’s spirits. Towards noon a bulletin in front of the American office announced there would be no game. Towards three o’clock the fall of moisture ceased for a while and a counter statement appeared. About four or five hundred people congregated at the Park at the hour for the game to commence. |
