William E. Akin, "West Virginia Baseball: A History, 1865-2000" p. 10 says in 1866 Martinsburg formed three teams, the Berkeley, Star and Virginia.

The Shepherdstown Register, Oct. , 1868 reports that the Star of Martinsburg beat the Old Dominion of Shepherdstown 50-17.

The Frederick (MD) Examiner, May 15, June 26, 1867 reports on a home-and-home series of the Star with he Mountain City of Frederick. Has a box score.

Martinsburg WV (1870 pop. about 4,800) is about 20 miles SW of Hagerstown MD.
