McCauley, Vice President, George Sidebotham (?), Secretary Wm M. Matthias, Treasurer C. O. Brewster, Directors Wm W Wade, Charles Gaskill, Thomas J. Wolfe, Theodore Bomeis, Joseph Conrad." In 1866, the New York Clipper reported on a meeting of the Sparta of Philadelphia. There's also a Spartacus Club mentioned elsewhere--same group? Is there evidence that this club played ball?
