Description

“Base Ball.–A match game of Base Ball, for the Championship of Davidson County, was played yesterday afternoon between the Stonewall and Rock City Clubs, on the grounds of the latter club, in Edgefield, and resulted in another victory for the Stonewall.

It was a very closely contested game until the last innings, when the Stonewall secured fifteen runs, mostly through wild throwing on the part of the Rock City Club, who did not play as well as in previous innings.

Mr. Sullivan, of the Cumberland Club, acted as umpire, giving entire satisfaction to all parties. Below are the scorings of each club:….

The Rock City challenged the Stonewall for another game next Saturday.”
