Description

“The National Game. At St. Augustine between two nines of the 7th Infantry, played on Friday, September 13th." St. Augustine Examiner, September 21, 1867

The Examiner article has a box score and is lengthy, though it doesn't say where the game was played. Col. Martin, post commander, pitched for the Orientals. Captain Durkee was the umpire.

The 7th US Infantry was part of the postwar occupation force in Florida.

St. Augustine, arguably the US's oldest town, had 1,717 residents in 1870.
