Description	The Los Angeles Herald, Sept. 7, 1892 reports that the Whittier Cadets played baseball during their encampment at Camp Banning, Catalina Island. A resort was first established on Catalina Island in 1891. Many years later the Chicago Cubs did spring training on the island.
