The Bloomington Pantagraph, Aug. 1, 1866 reports that the "Africans of this city have formed a base ball club called the Grey Eagles."

They met in "the woods south of town" to practice every Sunday, and included at least one African-American army veteran.

This may be the first known AA club in Illinois.
