Description | The Gay Street Baseball Grounds are mentioned in the Knoxville Press and Herald, Oct. 1, Nov. 17, 1868. Spiro's Bakery is said to be opposite these grounds. In 1884 Spiro's was located at 193 Gay St. The Knoxville Whig, Dec. 9, 1868 hints that these grounds are on Gay, around where Maine and Cumberland intersect Gay. This suggests that the grounds were about where the First Horizon Bank now is. |
