"There were thousands of ladies and gentlemen on the ground to witness this game." Lacking enclosed fields, turnstiles or ticket stubs, attendances are only visual estimates. Craig Waff counted 39 attendance estimates of one thousand or more in the NYC area prior to the Civil War.
