Description

The Blue Earth City Base Ball Club having received a challenge from the Garden City Club to play a matched game, have accepted and will go to Garden City on Wednesday of next week for that purpose. (Blue Earth City Post, Saturday, June 12, 1869, pp. 3, col. 2)

The Blue Earth City Base Ball Club returned from Garden City on Thursday with their colors flying, having achieved a decided victory over the Gopher Club at the latter place. The following is the score: Blue Earth (60) and Gopher Club (27)....gives runs scored each inning for each player....

Blue Earth Club: homeruns 4; outs on fouls 11; outs on bases 9; outs on flys 6 Gopher Club: homeruns 2; outs on fouls 6; outs on bases 9; outs on flys 6; struck out 4

The boys brought home as a trophy, a first class regulation ball. They desire us to return their thanks to the Gophers for the handsome treatment received at their hands.
