<p>In August 2017, in response to a query from the Baseball HOF, we revisited this unusual find. &nbsp;Bruce Allardice later reported (email of 8/12/2017): &nbsp;</p>
<p>"Larry:</p>
<p>There were RR connections east. But the traffic was more in riverboats west.<br />...</p>
<p>Bruce"</p>
<p>Bruce's general point was that in 1857, Pittsburgh was more regularly connected to Ohio Valley locations than those in the eastern USA.</p>
