Empire Club Constitution Appears, Club Lifts Off

[A] We have no record of the Empire Club playing match games in 1854, but the following April, they took the field.

[B]  "The Empire Bass Ball Club played their first regular [1855] season game at McCarthy's ground, Hoboken, yesterday afternoon. This club, consisting of some thirty young men, mostly clerks in the lower part of the City, was organized last year nearly at the close of the season."
