[B] "On July 9, 1853, The Spirit of the Times mentioned baseball for the first time, printing a letter reporting a game between the Gotham and Knickerbocker Clubs."

Do we know comparable dates for other like papers - the Clipper, etc? Has someone already analyzed the relative role of assorted papers in the first baseball boom?
