Description

Decatur Republican, June 3, 1869: "A colored base ball club has been organized in this city. The members practice in the fair grounds." Same, Aug. 12, 1870, mentions the "colored" club.

Brunson, "Black Baseball, 1858-1900" names this club the Brown Stockings.

 Same Aug. 13, 1875, says the "Colored club" is to play the "White Stockings".
