Text | [Atlantic vs. Philadelphia 5/24/1873] [Mack at third] Wood struck a grounder to third, on which Mack started to come home, and reached the plate at the same time the ball did, knocking down and falling over Barlow [catcher]. {The point being very close here, the umpire decided “not out.” The decision could have been given either way; Mack was as fairly “out” as he was “not out;” indeed , the general opinion was in favor of the latter decision.} |
