Description | The Chicago Tribune, July 17, 1870 reports that "on Friday" the Baltics of Chicago defeated the DuPage club of Danby, at Danby, 31-25. The DuPage club is described as the senior champions of DuPage County. The article gives a box score. The players for the Danby team are: Brown, ss; Cooper, p [L.C. Cooper of the 1867 Rustics]; Kinney, 1b; C. C. Hills, 2b; Chas. Hills, 3b; Jones, lf; Spitzer, cf; Newton, c; and Dodge, rf. The Dupages are said to have treated the visitors in a "splendid" manner, putting them up at the best hotel "and taking them to a ball in the evening." |
