The New York Herald, June 26, 1868 reports a game at Wilmington on Tuesday last between the Scuppernongs and the Harnetts. The Wilmington Journal, June 26, 1868 reports that the Harnett nine defeated the Scuppernong (of Kenanville) 28-14, and gives a box score.

Wilmington NC (1890 pop. about 20,000) is about 125 miles S of Raleigh and on the Atlantic coast near the SC border.
