Description

The Las Vegas (NM) Gazette, March 31, 1877: "Base Ball has again been revived and the boys of this plaza have reorganized their club."

This implies the game was played here in prior years.

Same, May 3, 1881, reports on  a game between two picked nines of the town. Three of the players have played professionally, including captain John T. O'Connor of the Topeka nine. Page Otero, presumably of the prominent NM Otero family, was one of the players.
