Description

Baseball appears to have reached Rapid City by 1887, if not before. The Bismarck Tribune, Oct. 21, 1887, reports: "The two baseball nines at Rapid City run their respective scores up to 29 and 31..."

The (Rapid City) Black Hills Weekly Journal, March 30, 1878: "A Base ball club is being organized in Rapid City." The club played on July 4th, 1878. The 80-Stampers BBC played in 1880.

Rapid City was founded around 1876, and incorporated in 1883.
