Location Pecatonica, IL, United States

Peter Morris et al., editors, "Base Ball Pioneers. 1850-1870" p. 234 has a section on the Pecatonica BBC of 1866. The Pecatonica team was so bad it was the butt of jokes nationwide. The Chicago Cubs were not in existence at this time to provide Pecatonica any competition for that honor.

The Rockford Weekly Register Gazette, Oct. 13, 1866 reports on a recent base ball tournament in Pecatonica, giving box scores. The clubs participating were Farmers and Bummers of Winnebago, the Eureka and Clippers of Lysander, the Prairie Boys and Plow Boys of Seward, and the Club of Pecatonica.
