| Description | A reminsice writen many years later by Col. Robert McEldowney (1837-1900) said that, as a schoolkid in Martinsville, he and the students played "town ball, the forerunner of base ball, and corner ball, which was a dandy." The boys got welts on their backs from playing corner ball. |
