Text | [reporting on the Buffalo Club for the upcoming season] Who will captain the nine is yet a matter of doubt. Should they secure a good a manger, it would be easy to name a player as captain who—like Morrill in the Bostons—would carry out the orders of the manager. In this case the latter would require to be an experienced player himself. There does not appear to be any player in the team competent to fill the bill of the captains position unassisted by the directions of a manager like Harry Wright, who is the real captain of the Boston team, Morrill only being a lieutenant. |
