| Text | [from Harry Palmer's column] When the League meeting adjourned it did not adjourn finally, but with the understanding that President Young should have the power to reconvene the meeting—the annual meeting-- at some future time. Even without this significant provision, however, it is generally understood that the League had by no means closed the business of its annual meeting. I think, and many others with me, that the real business of the League will be transacted when last month's meeting will be reconvened, which will probably occur early in February, or before that time, and if Indianapolis will tumble to anything short of the fall of a brick wall, she will lose no time. Count St. Louis and Kansas City out of the race. Organize a stock company with the same amount of vim and enterprise and backed with the same amount of capital that Kansas City possess and then talk to—well, talk to the League and Kansas City at the same time. The latter will sell you its team and franchise and the former will admit you, if I have been able to size up the situation with any degree of accuracy. |
