Text | The reason Jones' case didn't come before the New York League meeting was simply because notice of his appeal did not reach Secretary Young. The lawyer whom Jones engaged to prepare and forward his appeal and statement of facts sent it to Secretary Young, care of the Fifth Avenue Hotel, New York, instead of to Washington, as he should have done. President Hulbert, by one of his strange freaks, changed the meeting from the Fifth Avenue to the St. James, and the appeal, consequently is still lying in the office of the Fifth Avenue. Jones will present this phase of his case to the League at its meeting next month, and hopes to have justice done him. He has some warm friends at work for hi among the League Clubs and players. There is no doubt tat all that he was a victim of the Boston Club's dishonesty. It only remains to be seen whether he is also to be made a victim of the unfair designs of the League. |
