Text | [from Frank Brunell's column] It seems to me that the universal trick practiced by infielders, that of coming up for a short play when a man is on third and less than two hands are out isn't a good one. I have seen so many runs result from the habit in this season of batting that I have weakened on it. In not one case in five does it succeed, and I think that the chances in favor of the batsmen making a hit at such times are quadrupled, at least. |
