Text | [Cincinnati vs. Atlantic 6/16/1869] During the game a great number of foul balls were hit into the crowd, and were the occasion of much merriment, as the spectators were packed so tightly that they generally could not get out of the way, and somebody was almost certain of getting hit on the back or head. Policemen or others who favored the players by returning the ball after foul hits were awards with good plaudits. |
