Text | [reporting on the rules changes] [The umpire] was empowered to fine players who...try to disconcert a fielder by calling the name of a man other than the one designated by the Captain. This refers to such fellows as Burdock, who had a habit when a fly is batted, say to the right field, of shouting out for the center-fielder to go for it, when the Captain has called the right fielders. |
