Text | [a game played on the Boston Common] Considerable annoyance was occasioned to the players by the crossing of pedestrians through the field during the game. If the authorities have the power to grant the use of the ground to the club, we should think also that they have the right to prevent people from crossing, at least for the few hours a match occupies. But for the police the crowd would have prevented the match from being played, so much at times did they interfere with the movements of the players in the field. |
