Description

"Base Ball -- Queen City of Buffalo vs. Burlington Club of Hamilton -- These two clubs took advantage of the Excursion yesterday to play a match at Base Ball near Clifton.  The following is the score: Queen City 30 runs; Burlington 25 runs."

Comment

This game is the earliest known international game of modern base ball (Ontario was still a British province until Canada formed in 1867.)

Bill Humber explains that the cited "Excursion" was a tightrope exhibition over the Niagara Gorge performed by a "Signor Farini" actually a man from Ontario.  The village of Clifton ONT, the site of the game, later became Niagara Falls, ONT.
