Description | "Later in the year [1858] a Mechanics Ball Club was organized and played a game on the Common with the Olympics of Boston. They were beaten by a score of 54 to 21. Twelve men played on a side." The New York Clipper, April 30, 1859 mentions this club as sending delegates to the state bb convention.
