"Baseball will probably be made a big feature..." in the sporting events of the carnival. This may refer to Dawson, Alaska. On Dominion Day, July 1, 1902, the Commercials of Dawson played baseball against the Bonanzas of Grand Forks, losing to the home team 21-12. See "Yukon Daily Morning Sun", July 2, 1902. The Juneau "Daily Record-Miner" May 17, 1904 says that Dawson "had the strongest team in Alaska" last year. The Fairbanks "Alaska Citizen", July 12, 1915, says the Fairbanks baseball club challenges the Dawson baseball club.
