Description | The Sterling Standard, June 11, 1874: "Base ball is running high among the youths of this city. The Rock Falls club... challenged the Sterling club, mostly of smooth faced youth, to three games... for the championship." Sterling won the first game, played at the "fair grounds." Rock Falls won the 2nd. This may be the Riverside BBC, which played the Riverside Club of Dixon, as reported in the Dixon Sun, July 21, 1875. |
