Description | The Wilmington Dispatch, Dec. 20, 1866: "They have a Base Ball Club in Charlotte called the "Hornet's Nest" club." This is probably the "Base Ball Club of Charlotte" which beat a team of Union soldiers in 1867. See the Warrenton Indicator, March 13, 1867. By Oct. 9, 1869 the Charlotte Bulletin was asking "What has become of the Base-Ball club of Charlotte?" |

Win/Loss Records As Far As We Now Know
Warning: Users should not rely on a team's won-loss record as a reflection of its "standing" among all base ball clubs. Team schedules were not balanced, and a good record against mostly weak opponents does not signify a leading club.
