Biography

William J. Ramage was born in Pennsylvania in 1839, and served as a private in the 19th Illinois Infantry. He fought in many battles in Tennessee, including Chickamauga. After the war he settled in Tennessee, and eventually moved to Knoxville, where he worked as a book-keeper. He died in 1911.

As a member of the Lookout Club of Chattanooga, he was elected President of the Tennessee Base Ball Convention, May 1, 1867.

Ramage is buried in Knoxville National Cemetery.
