Description

The Chicago Inter Ocean, May 7, 1866 reports that the Star Club of Chicago beat the Favorites of Evanston 26-24 in a game at Ogden Park on Saturday. Says the Star were formed just 2 months ago.

The Chicago Tribune, Sept. 19, 1870 reports that the Stars beat the Alerts 8 to 4. Same June 12, 1870 reports that the Amateurs had renamed themselves the "Stars." So is this the pony team (see below), the 1866 team, or a new club?

Same Oct. 17, 1869 reports that the Stars lost to the Independents 40-33 for the "South Side Pony Championship."
