The Orange County Register, July 23, 2010 reports on the US tour of a pony league team from Hanoi, the Hanoi Capitals. Says they were formed in 2008.

Ships of the US Asiatic fleet visited Saigon, French Indochina, in the 1930s, and these ships had baseball clubs (e.g., USS Barker, Saigon, 1935). In all probability, the sailors played baseball there. [ba]
