Description | Crown Point Register, Sept. 26, 1878, p. 3: "The game of ball between the Brown Stockings of Crown Point, and the Hammonds of Hammond, played at the latter place, resulted in favor of the Brown Stockings by a score of 11 to 4." Same March 7, 1878 reports that the Hammond BBC is fitting up its new baseball grounds, on the bank of the Calumet River.
The Hammond Unions are mentioned in the Chicago Inter Ocean, June 7, 1895. The club was managed by (Marcus) Morton Towle, son of the mayor of Hammond. |
