Description

The New Albany Daily Commercial, Nov. 23, 1865, under the headline "Eagle Base Ball Club" announces the recent formation of this club, with B. S. Potter, president; J. W. Buskirk, VP; George B. Cardwill, Treasurer. The Eagle intend to challenge teams from neighboring cities soon.

New Albany was Indiana's largest city in 1850. The city's economy featured building steamboats for the Ohio-Mississippi River trade.
