The Chicago Inter Ocean, Oct. 26, 1869, reports that the Diana Club, composed of female students of Northwestern U. Seminary, have been challenged by a junior boys club, the Baltic.

The Chicago Evening Post, Oct. 20, 1869, has a long detailed article on how the female students of French and English have each formed a baseball nine. See the attached clipping. "W. P. Jones" had been the president of the "Northwestern Female College" (see Chicago Tribune, July 2, 1863).

The Northwestern Female College (est. 1856) was absorbed by the new Evanston College for Ladies in 1871, and the new college was absorbed by Northwestern University in 1873.
